Naqwa is the largest producer of Vanami shrimp in Saudi Arabia
The Saudi shrimp farm, operated by the National Aquaculture Group (NAGWA), is the first in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to achieve Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification.
According to Naqwa, the certification means that Saudi Arabia is now one of the top 15 countries in the world for ASC shrimp certification. In addition to the ASC certification, Naqwa is also set to receive the ASC CoC (Chain of Ownership Certificate) for its processing plant, which demonstrates product traceability and best practices after harvest.

The ASC certification demonstrates Naqwa’s compliance with all global regulations and industry standards for a responsible and sustainable aquaculture system,” the company’s CEO, Diego Illingworth, told the media.
