China’s Optima Group to invest $50 million to expand Pakistani seafood processing and exports in South Asia
On May 23, Optima and Asia Pak Investment signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an “end-to-end supply chain” for seafood exports, including the construction of a processing plant. According to a statement, imports of 79 species from Pakistan have been approved by Chinese customs.
The project will create more than 100 jobs in Gwadar and Karachi, the two companies said. The project will be expanded in the next phase to include beef and goat meat production in addition to fish.
